Background to Asthma & COPD for Unregistered Clinicians

Learning Outcomes:
To understand the background of Asthma and COPD, looking at latest data and morbidity/mortality.
To be aware of the Signs and symptoms of Asthma and COPD, how they differ and the impact on the person who has the particular lung condition.
Appreciate other conditions with similar symptoms and ones that impact on Asthma and COPD.
To learn how to use a Peak flow to diagnose Asthma, practical demonstration and discussion of diaries.
Understand basic technique of the various inhalers used in Asthma and COPD and appreciate the resources available to support people using them – practical session.
To understand what is involved in an Asthma and COPD annual review and how the role of a HCA can support this.
