Anticoagulation and DOAC Update For All Clinical Staff

Aim of the Session:

To ensure those clinical personnel -doctors, nurses, pharmacists and health care assistants -who are already managing anticoagulant monitoring in primary care are updated and upskilled. The course will cover both INR monitoring of patients on warfarin and DOAC monitoring.

GPs, Nurses, HCAs and all clinical staff

Learning Outcomes:

By attending the programme individuals will:

  • Update their knowledge of recent developments in anticoagulation.
  • Have an understanding of current guidelines in stroke prevention and existing research evidence for monitoring and initiation of anticoagulants.
  • Learn from discussion with other professionals aspects of managing anticoagulation safely in a multidisciplinary team.
  • An understanding of the roles of the multi-professional, disciplinary team in managing anticoagulation safely.
  • Acquire an understanding of the requirements of clinical governance for anticoagulation management developing/adapting and applying audit tools with performance indicators.
