To be aware of the latest British Thoracic Society (BTS) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Asthma Guidelines and look at the global GINA guidelines in view of the diagnosis of Asthma in Adults and Paediatrics with the various management options.
To understand and appreciate differential diagnosis – ensuring the person with asthma has the correct diagnosis. Understanding various upper airway disorders.
To be aware of new inhalers and treatments for asthma and discuss poor inhaler technique with the ability to source support.
To be aware of the latest personal management plans.
To know when to refer to specialist services and what the person with severe asthma may be treated with.
