By the end of the half day the delegates will be able to:

To be aware of the latest updates to the 2024 Asthma: diagnosis, monitoring and chronic asthma management (BTS, NICE, SIGN) guidelines (British Thoracic Society / National Institute for Health and Care Excellence / Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network Asthma Guidelines) Including the diagnosis of Asthma in Adults and Paediatrics with the various management options.
- To be aware of the new AIR (anti inflammatory reliever) treatment & review MART (Maintenance and reliever therapy)
- To understand and appreciate differential diagnosis – ensuring the person with asthma has the correct diagnosis. Understanding various upper airway disorders.
- To be aware of new inhalers and treatments for asthma and discuss poor inhaler technique with the ability to source support.
- To be aware of the latest personal management plans.
- To know when to refer to specialist services and what the person with severe asthma may be treated with.
- A brief overview of COPD diagnosis and management covering the latest NICE & GOLD (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease) guidelines.
Most of this session will cover the latest updates on asthma with a short session on COPD.
All training will be virtual on Zoom or Teams and a link will be sent approximately a week prior to the training
