Learning Outcomes:

• To understand the background of Asthma and COPD, looking at latest data and morbidity/mortality.
• To be aware of the Signs and symptoms of Asthma and COPD, how they differ and the impact on the person who has the particular lung condition.
• Appreciate other conditions with similar symptoms and ones that impact on Asthma and COPD.
• To learn how to use a Peak flow to diagnose Asthma, practical demonstration and discussion of diaries.
• Understand basic technique of the various inhalers used in Asthma and COPD and appreciate the resources available to support people using them – practical session.
• To understand what is involved in an Asthma and COPD annual review and how the role of a HCA can support this.
